Hypergene Provides Wibax with a Cohesive System for a Better Overview

Since the mid-1980s, the privately owned chemical supplier Wibax has developed its logistics network. The operations consist of activities such as sales, importation, production and distribution, primarily of liquid chemical products. Environmental awareness and sustainability have always been key focus areas for Wibax, which is also reflected in the KPIs and activities through which it manages its strategy.

Wibax has around 180 employees in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, just over 70 of whom work are drivers. The roads between the company’s various terminals and depots are their primary workplace. Head office is located in Piteå in northern Sweden, and the company has an annual turnover in the region of SEK 900 million.

Now everyone has the activities in their mobile phone and this, combined with the fact that Hypergene is such a user-friendly tool, has increased participation at all levels.

Challenge

Encouraging and increasing participation in the work is a vital issue for all organisations, but the nature of certain business operations can make this difficult to achieve.

The board and management team at Wibax has always had the goal that all employees, regardless of their position and place of work, should have the same opportunities to participate in the daily operational work with monitoring of targets.

However, given that so many of the company’s employees seldom spend time in front of a computer, an alternative means of reaching them with relevant information was needed; a solution that could be adapted to reflect their daily reality.

Summary:

  • The need for a cohesive system that facilitates the achievement of results.
  • A desire for improved participation from employees who are not based at the office.

Solution

Even if employees do not use a computer on a daily basis, they still have a mobile phone. Hypergene’s Strategic Management module for mobile devices turned out to be the best solution for reaching employees, and in particular the drivers, with relevant information in a simple and user-friendly manner.

Strategic Management is based on the strategic plans of the board and management team, which are then broken down into sub-goals and activities that are communicated to the organisation.

KPIs can be linked to activities to ensure that goals are achieved. The mobile interface developed by Wibax and Hypergene enables users to report back, provide feedback, make comments and change status in the processes they are involved in.

Activities on which the drivers provide reporting, feedback and comments include details of fuel consumption, punctuality to the customer and truck service requirements.

All of this is done with the aim of enabling each employee to participate, exert influence and understand how individual activities impact the business as a whole.

Results

”Before we chose Hypergene, we had a system that was not particularly user-friendly; many employees found it difficult and were put off from using the system regularly. Now everyone has the activities in their mobile phones. This, combined Hypergene's user-friendliness, has increased participation at all levels,” says Emma Nyström, CEO Assistant at Wibax.

For the company’s management team and Board, the Strategic Management module is the tool that facilitates a structured work method for planning, reporting and monitoring of the strategic goals. Evaluation of how well the company has succeeded in achieving the set goals and KPIs takes place at management level once a month.

”Thanks to Hypergene, we now have an effective and user-friendly system for our strategic planning work, and we are continuously provided with a cohesive overview of how well we are doing,” Nyström adds.

Summary:

  • A cohesive system for a better overview of how operations are progressing, and increased participation.
